The idea of an Automotive Helper Ministry is this: You get a few necessary tools and supplies in your car, and you stop and give help to other drivers if they need it.

The basic services you should be able to provide are these: (1) Change a tire; (2) Give a jump start; (3) Go get gas; (4) Put out a fire. You don't have to be any kind of mechanic at all to render these four services. Just learn how to do them.

The only tools you will need are (1) A screwdriver for prying off wheelcovers; (2) Perhaps a small hydraulic jack, in case your client doesn't have a jack. (3) A four-way lug wrench, in case your client doesn't have the proper wrench; (4) Jumper cables; (5) A gas can; (6) a fire extinguisher suitable for automotive fires.

If you are mechanically inclined, you can provide other services, according to your abilities.

NOTE: White smoke from under the hood means steam from a coolant leak. This is not a fire. Brown smoke from under the hood means a fire. This only happened to me one time, in traffic, in Washington, DC. The car ahead of me at a stoplight started sending out brown smoke from under the hood. I got out and politely told the lady that her car was on fire and she had better get out immediately, which she did. I did not have a fire extinguisher. Within five minutes, her car was burned to a crisp.
