"Health Care From The Patients's View" offers a wide-open discussion of health care, from the patient's point of view. Hypothetical medical situations are presented, and people tell how they would respond to each situation. Many of these situations and responses originate from the Google group located at http://groups.google.com/group/patientsview?hl=en Any member of this group may present situations, and any member may respond to any situation. The most interesting of these discussions will be summarized and republished here on this webpage and elsewhere, being placed in the Public Domain.

Here is the first situation to be presented . . . 


   Situation: Hit-and-run accident, no insurance, $40,000 medical bill to be paid by you.

   You were seriously injured as a pedestrian in a hit-and-run accident. The driver has not
   been located. As a young, hourly, part-time worker, you have no medical insurance because
   your job did not provide it, and you were not married, had no children, and almost never
   got sick. You are now able to return to work, at $10.50 per hour. You have just received a
   total of $40,000 in medical bills, due on receipt.
