The Apostles' Creed
This historic affirmation of faith comes to us from the early
centuries of the Christian church.
I believe in God, the Father Almighty,
Maker of heaven and earth:
And in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord;
Who was conceived by the Holy Ghost;
Born of the Virgin Mary,
Suffered under Pontius Pilate,
Was crucified, dead, and buried;
He descended into hell;
The third day he rose again from the dead;
He ascended into heaven
And sitteth at the right hand of God the Father Almighty;
From thence He shall come to judge the quick and the dead.
I believe in the Holy Ghost;
The holy catholic church; *
The communion of saints;
The forgiveness of sins;
The resurrection of the body;
And the life everlasting.
Amen.
* Note: "catholic church" here means the entire body of
believers in Christ, not just one particular church.
This doctrine is incorrect, as the following scriptures will show. The Lord can and does change His mind on things, depending on what happens.
At the very first, He became sorry that He created us.
Genesis 6:6 KJV
And it repented the LORD that he had made man on the
earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
He changed His mind about Saul's being king.
1 Samuel 15:11 KJV
It repenteth me that I have set up Saul to be king:
for he is turned back from following me, and hath not
performed my commandments. And it grieved Samuel; and
he cried unto the LORD all night.
And there are many other examples where He changed His mind or considered
changing His mind, based on things that happened.
Jonah 3:9-19 KJV
Who can tell if God will turn and repent, and turn
away from his fierce anger, that we perish not?
And God saw their works, that they turned from their
evil way; and God repented of the evil, that he had
said that he would do unto them; and he did it not.
Exodus 32:14 KJV
And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to
do unto his people.
Hosea 11:8 KJV
How shall I give thee up, Ephraim? how shall I
deliver thee, Israel? how shall I make thee as Admah?
how shall I set thee as Zeboim? mine heart is turned
within me, my repentings are kindled together.

And of course, sometimes He does *not repent . . .
