Blessings to you, the readers of this page, in Jesus Christ our
Lord. May He guide you and protect you always.
Beloved:
If the Holy Spirit dwelling within you leads you to pray to Jesus, it is perfectly acceptable for you to do so. Jesus has the authority to receive your prayers and to act on them; Jesus has given you permission to pray to Him; and the Bible provides a clear example when Stephen prayed directly to Jesus while he was being stoned to death.
Of course it is always acceptable for you to pray to God the Father, as Jesus describes in The Lord's Prayer.
I myself usually pray to Jesus, using the words "Dear Lord," or "Dear Lord Jesus," with the understanding that Jesus is God, as explained in the doctrine of The Trinity.
JESUS NOW HAS ALL POWER
Matthew 28:18 (KJV) 18 And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth. Matthew 28:18 (NASB) 18 And Jesus came up and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to Me in heaven and on earth." If Jesus has all authority and all power, then He must be entitled to receive and answer our prayers.JESUS HAS INVITED US TO PRAY TO HIM
NOTE: He says "I will do it," not "God will do it" or "The Father will do it."
John 14:13-14 (KJV) 13 And whatsoever ye shall ask in my name, that will I do, that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 If ye shall ask any thing in my name, I will do it. John 14:13-14 (NASB) 13 "Whatever you ask in My name, that will I do, so that the Father may be glorified in the Son. 14 "If you ask Me anything in My name, I will do it." Jesus clearly says that if you ask Him for anything, and ask it in His name, then He will do it. No other reading makes sense.THE BIBLE GIVES EXAMPLES OF PRAYING TO JESUS
When Stephen was being stoned to death, he prayed to Jesus, saying "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit," and "Lord, lay not this sin to their charge."
Acts 7:59-60 (KJV) 59 And they stoned Stephen, calling upon God, and saying, Lord Jesus, receive my spirit. 60 And he kneeled down, and cried with a loud voice, Lord, lay not this sin to their charge. And when he had said this, he fell asleep. Acts 7:59-60 (NASB) 59 They went on stoning Stephen as he called on the Lord and said, "Lord Jesus, receive my spirit!" 60 Then falling on his knees, he cried out with a loud voice, "Lord, do not hold this sin against them!" Having said this, he fell asleep. In his moment of death, Stephen prayed directly to "Lord Jesus." This is our clear example to follow.Source: Bible verses from BibleGateway.com
